Movie Reviews
I have been on a bit of a dry spell with movies lately. Partially because of time and also because there really haven't been a lot of great movies out lately. Oh but it is summertime which means a rush of action and comedy flicks are sure to find their way to the big screen. So I did manage to take in a few movies over the last couple of weeks.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I tend to be a big fan of comic book movies though I don't keep up with the comics. So all I know of Wolverine I know from the X-men movies, and I can say with that in mind that I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. It was action packed, had good visuals and I thought the story was good to. My comic genius boyfriend who would have a way better review for you from the point of view of someone who knows the character said the story did in 2 hours what it took comics years to get to. Well that's fine with me because I hate a story that takes forever to get where it is going.
Terminator Salvation

Now you just have to turn your brain off to enjoy this franchise. The writers are given the grueling task of writing sequels for movies that were not necessarily ever intended to have sequels. Because of this they have to ignore things like "no fate but what we make" and change it to, there is nothing you can do to stop the future. Not to mention dealing with the time travel logic flaw created in the first movie of John sending his father from the future to impregnate his mother in the past. But with all they must deal with they still crank out great movies, you'll enjoy them best if you just don't think too hard about it.
Drag Me to Hell

OK I'm just going to go ahead and give this one five stars. This is the fist horror movie from Sam Raimi since Army of Darkness. This is a man who knows how to make a horror film, unless you can go for horrifying then don't take yourself too seriously. The first Evil Dead was meant to be scary but when it got more laughs than screams of terror he tried again with Evil Dead II. This time he got it right and created a cult classic with his brand of horror/hilarious.
Well this new movie is no different, there are moments that are creepy, gross and make you jump a little but in true Sam Raimi fashion there are more moments of laughter and even a few classic one liners.
Next week I'm looking forward to Land of the Lost and Away We Go.
