Vintage Yeah!

OK I may have found my new favorite web site. It is a Japanese site that generates your photos in to antiques with one click. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to photo editing so yeah, this is kinda the best. I haven't check the photo size but I don't think it makes full size images, just web quality but It's still fun. Check it out at Wanokato

Pod People

Something that I have recently learned about myself is that pods greatly appeal to me. First the sleeping pod and now the laptop pod. Come on though, don't these look like an amazing work space? Maybe in a past life I was a Gremlin, I do like to eat after midnight.

Scott Pilgrim review

Last night Raven and I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. My expectations were not extremely high based on what a tough time I've had reading the comic. The problem I had with the comic is that it spends too much time on dialog and flashbacks that seem unnecessary, not to mention boring. My hope for the movie is that much of that would be cut back so it could fit neatly in a two hour time limit. Well the movie was in fact a much abbreviated version of the comic. It spent more time focusing on the overall concept of the story and less time on pointless dialogue. This part was good, but another problem I had with the comic is that comedy in it just wasn't funny enough. I was hoping that the movie would be rewritten to be just a bit more clever, however much of it was taken straight out of the comic. The part of Bryan O'Malley's writing that is most critically acclaimed is the fact that the books are dripping with video game references. Not being an avid gamer I only get the obvious ones so the best part of the comic is completely lost on me. However, I think a great story should transcend it's references and be enjoyable regardless. The references should simply enhance the story, not be it's entire focus.

It is a story with a video game theme, this has been praised for being: "the first of it's kind!" "ground breaking!" Now that may be true, but there have been countless video games that have been turned into live action movies and yeah they pretty much suck. Because video games don't have good stories. If you are going to create a real world movie and ask me to accept all the kookiness like exes with ridiculous powers, people turning into coins when they die, getting a 1up when you defeat an enemy; it either needs to be extremely funny or have an incredible story. Scott Pilgrim has neither. I have only read through 3 of the comics and after the movie I had Raven just tell me how it ended; I've decided not to waste anymore of my time trying to enjoy this story.

Sold!

After almost 200 views of Etsy the jelly fish shirt finally sold and it went to San Fransico. I wish I could have crunched myself up in the envelope and went with it.

A Saturday drive to Mt. Mitchell

A short but steep walk to the top

Followed by a reward meal of chili cheese fries and a bacon cheese burger

And a few pics of a Contra Dancing lesson
