Idiotarod

Last weekend I was able to attend my first Idiotarod. I had absolutely no idea what this was I only knew shopping carts, funny clothes and racing was involved. This was really all I needed to know. I actually visualized a short race or a short series of races and even imagined people actually in the carts, which I thought a bit dangerous but good for photos. It really wasn't exactly as I imagined but it was close. The race was quite long and included a bit of community service as they had to plant trees, pick up brush and do a little mulching. Me and Julia tried to keep up but we had no water and are both quite out of shape. We did get a lot of really fun pictures from the day despite near dehydration. Next time I will know what to expect and be more prepared.

Fanatacon

Oh no this is the second comic themed post in a row. Well Saturday was Fanatacon, held at the art center of Asheville. This was the first year for it and I would say a huge success. About 3,000 people went through from what I heard. Raven went to promote his comic and I went as mostly table filler. I sold buttons and some of my shirts. It was nice to get a feel for what a real con is like seeing as we have only ever been to the joke of a con that is Tsubasacon in WV. We met some great people during the years we attended, but it is just to small and full of immature petty behavior. Now that I know real cons aren't that way I have new excitement for whole business. I can't wait to plan and attend the next one. We will be at Herocon in Charlotte NC but only as attendees, the tables were all sold out, not to mentions extremely expensive.
